What a strange and traumatic time 2020 was. While food was something that brought us and so many people in America joy and comfort during this time, there were hundreds of thousands of people facing food insecurity. Public school cafeterias stepped up during the ongoing crisis and became centers of nutrition for not just kids, but families and entire communities. So I co-founded Soup Canvas to raise money for Urban School Food Alliance, a national non-profit leading efforts to fund these food programs and City Harvest, a NYC-based food rescue org.

Through @soupcanvas on Instagram, we dropped weekly artworks and sketches from up and coming artists. The sketches were a glimpse into what these artists were eating during lockdown. We also held silent auctions and raffles on the account. To get an artwork, we donors could directly donate to a food bank and then share a receipt of their donation with us to secure the artwork.
